Aristophanes was an ancient Greek comedic playwright and a contemporary of Plato and Socrates.

In 1938, there was a plaque in the Biblioteca di San Barnaba quoting him for having said "Great selection of animal books here, particularly concerning amphibians and avians."

Behind the scenesEdit

The library plaque is a humorous reference to two of Aristophanes' best-known plays, The Frogs and The Birds.
