A Blond Driver was a German corporal who served as the driver of the Mercedes-Benz 320 carrying René Emile Belloq, Herman Dietrich and Arnold Ernst Toht in 1936.

Bioraphy

In 1936, a blond driver was assigned to drive the 1937 Mercedes-Benz 320 that carried René Belloq, Major Toht and Colonel Dietrich that headed up the convoy taking the Ark of the Covenant from Tanis to Cairo. His driving skills kept the staff car ahead of the truck after Indiana Jones overtook it, but Jones finally rammed him off the road. After being yelled at by Belloq, he managed to get the car going again, but by the time they caught up to Jones at Cairo, he had hidden the truck in Omar's garage.

Behind the scenes

The Blond Driver, as named in Lawrence Kasdan's script, was portrayed by stuntman Rocky Taylor in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

According to the Marvel's Raiders comic book adaptation, the character is a corporal.
