Coppergate is a street in York, UK.

As York was once a Viking settlement, Coppergate was excavated in 1976 by archaeologists in search of Viking remains. Coppergate was chosen due to its Viking name, meaning "street of the wood-workers", which indicated that Viking Age objects would likely be found there.
