Derek Lyons (born September 25, 1958 in London) is an actor. During his career, he has worked in many successful movies such as Star Wars, The Shining and Z-Listers, often without a credit.

Lyons originally auditioned for Raiders of the Lost Ark and was given the part of a Nazi trooper present during the opening of the Ark of the Covenant but he instead decided to go on holiday.[1]

However, years later, he was contacted again and was asked to play another Nazi soldier, this time in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Lyons took the role and his character appears near the close of the film during the Grail Temple scenes.[2]

In 2006, speaking with Star Wars Interviews, Lyons expressed interest in playing a villain in the then untitled fourth Indiana Jones picture in the same vein as Ronald Lacey's Arnold Ernst Toht character from Raiders. The fourth film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was released two years later in 2008, but Lyons had no involvement in it.[2]
