In 1935, Dr. Lopez accompanied Indiana Jones on a quest for a map leading to the Shrine of the Sea Devil. Their adventure took them to the Marquesas Islands in the South Pacific. There, the pair ran into a tribe of headhunters, and despite the help of their guide, Manahiki, Lopez was killed.
