Ecuador is a country in South America. Located on the continent's northwestern coast, Ecuador shares borders with Colombia and Peru.

In July 1941, Indiana Jones escaped into Ecuador — then at war with Peru — to evade Peruvian soldiers looking to arrest him for tomb robbing despite his being in their country with permission to excavate an Incan shrine. However, Jones was captured in Puerto Bolivar by invading Peruvian forces and discovered that he had been set up by US Colonel Musgrove in order to locate and hire him for his services.
