Suzette Chambin was the Belgian proprietress of Café Belgique, a London restaurant which catered to expatriates displaced from her home country due to World War I. She was a war widow with four children, two boys and two girls, and her family lived in an apartment above the cafe.

Biography[]

In May of 1916, Suzette Chambin met Remy Baudouin and his friend Indiana Jones when they arrived in London and enlisted in the Belgian army. She and Remy had a whirlwind romance and were married on the day he and Indy left to go off to the war.[2]

She didn't see her husband again until after the end of World War I in 1918, when Remy and Indy returned to London. She then supported Remy's desire to go abroad again to seek the fabled Peacock's Eye and even gave him and Indy a necklace, a family heirloom, to sell and fund their venture in the hope that they would return triumphantly with the priceless diamond.[3]
