Captain Hernandez was a contact of Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. in South America.
In 1937, Dr. Jones attempted to get in touch with the captain when he and Francisca Uribe Del Arco arrived in Buenos Aires on the trail of Francisca's brother, Felipe. Unfortunately for Jones, Captain Hernandez was on duty elsewhere, and could not be reached.
It is unclear what Hernandez' title of Captain refers to - he may be a ship's captain, pilot, military official or police officer.
