The Hindenburg was a zeppelin operating as a passenger service aircraft in the 1930s by Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei. The Hindenburg set a record for crossing the Atlantic Ocean in 42 hours. The D-138 was modeled after the Hindenburg.
Behind the scenesEdit
The real LZ 129 Hindenburg was in service for transatlantic flights between Germany, South America, and New Jersey from 1936 to May 1937, when it caught fire while landing in Lakehurst, New Jersey. The Hindenburg disaster effectively ended the use of rigid airships for passenger service.
