Honduras is a country in Central America, bordered to the west by Guatemala, to the southwest by El Salvador and by Nicaragua to the southeast.

Honduras was a center of Mayan civilization conquered by the Spanish in the 16th century. In the 1930s, coups were are regular occurrence.

Indiana Jones was to meet René Emile Belloq for the first time in Honduras in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles television series but the show was cancelled before it was produced.
