Indiana Jones' office at Barnett College contained numerous artifacts collected by Jones throughout his career. Jones was also known to keep other items in his office, such as a medal he once won in a boxing tournament, and an old globe as well as trinkets and books that he considered useless junk himself. He would also keep a jar of solvent which proved useful to him on some occasions.

History

In 1938, Jones found the Grail Diary in his office, which had been sent to him from Venice, sparking off his quest for the Holy Grail.

Behind the scenes

Many of the artifacts in Jones' office were introduced in the LucasArts graphic adventure game Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure, and are references to elements from other LucasArts games. For instance the meteor fragment is a reference to Maniac Mansion while the Brazilian totem pole depicts Sam and Max, the protagonists of the Sam & Max adventure games series, and the crayon map is a reference to Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders, in which McKracken draws a map with yellow crayon on a piece of torn wallpaper, based on a dream he has in the beginning of the game.

Other artifacts introduced in the game are references to other media that relate to the Indiana Jones universe in one way or another. For instance, the Thousand-year-old falcon is a reference to the Millennium Falcon from the Star Wars franchise in which Harrison Ford, who portrays Indiana Jones in the movies, plays Han Solo, the owner of the Millennium Falcon spaceship. The Sankara replicas are a reference to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in which the Sankara Stones are the main artifacts.

The player can interact with these artifacts and learn their background stories, but only two items in the room are actually of importance to the storyline of the game - namely the jar of solvent and the Grail Diary which is found under a heap of junkmail.
