Indiana Jones and the Eye of the Fates is the fourth gamebook in Ballantine's "Find Your Fate Adventure" series, and the first by author Richard Wenk. It was released in July 1984.

The legends say that whoever possesses the crystal Eye has the power to see and even change the future. In the wreck of an ancient ship, Indiana Jones finds pieces of Perseus' golden shield—which contains clues to the location of the mysterious Eye. Unfortunately, reporters reveal this astonishing discovery—and the race is on! Your father, a museum curator, says that you must accompany Indy on his desperate mission to find the Eye and keep it from falling into the wrong hands.

Before you know it, you're dashing from Mount Olympus to distant Japan, searching for this amazing artifact. Your lives are constantly in jeopardy as you are pursued by ruthless villains eager to exploit the power of the Eye. You must decide which moves to make! You have to choose the directions that will lead to your goal! Every fascinating and dangerous step of the way, it is up to you to FIND YOUR FATE.

Behind the scenes Edit

This book contains twenty distinct narrative paths, leading to twenty different endings. The longest path is twenty-one pages, but it ends with Indy falling to his implied death. The page sequence for this path is:

1 → 2 → 3 → 19 → 58 → 103 → 60 → 61 → 63 → 87 → 67 → 108 → 69 → 84 → 85 → 99 → 118 → 100 → 101 → 17 → 119

The longest path in which Indy survives is twenty pages, but even then, it ends with a Nazi spy recovering the Eye of the Fates, intent on using it as a German super-weapon. The page sequence for this path is:

1 → 2 → 3 → 19 → 58 → 103 → 60 → 61 → 63 → 87 → 67 → 108 → 69 → 84 → 85 → 99 → 118 → 100 → 101 → 122

The longest path with a somewhat favorable ending is only seventeen pages. It finishes with Indy being rescued by the protagonist's father, after the Eye is destroyed in a fire:
