Kukulkan was the feathered serpent god in the religion of the Maya.

The image of Kukulkan was etched into the small recesses of the doorway of the Pyramid of the Sorcerer at Uxmal. Indiana Jones found the etchings, and inserted the Four Mayan Figurines to open the doorway to the Akashic Hall of Records in 1941.

A temple with a large statue of Kukulkan was hidden below a Mayan city complex on the coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. The statue, at the center of a large calendar stone that told the origins of Kukulkan and the story of the K'iche Maya tribe, actually housed a shaft that dropped into an underground river which flowed out to the sea. Indiana Jones discovered the temple and accidentally traveled down the river in 1957.

Behind the scenesEdit

The feathered serpent deity also appears in other Mesoamerican religions, and was known as Quetzalcoatl to the Aztecs. The K'iche Maya referred to Kukulkan as Gukumatz.
