McGuinness was a lieutenant colonel with ties to the United States Department of Counterintelligence.
McGuiness prepared a dossier on Soviet Colonel Doctor Irina Spalko for the General Robert Ross and noted that she was extremely dangerous. The document ended up with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1957 as part of file handed to Indiana Jones to help the archaeologist identify the KGB woman who had coerced his assistance at Hangar 51.
