"So much still to learn about the Aztecs. It's people like you and I who will discover more of their lost secrets."
―Miguel Paz to Indiana Jones[src]

Professor Miguel Paz was one of Mexico's leading archaeologists and taught at a university in Mexico City.

During Indiana Jones' later life, Professor Paz invited Jones to his Aztec excavation in the city and acted as his guide for the duration of his stay.

Behind the scenes

Miguel Paz was created by John Malam for Indiana Jones Explores The Aztecs. Due to the Indiana Jones Explores series' categorization in the Indycron continuity database as non-fiction, despite being written from an in-universe perspective by Indiana Jones, Paz's role in Jones's canonical life, if any, is unclear.

Dating in the book (published in 1994) would require Jones to have written the account of his time with Paz in or after 1980, while the event itself has to take place after 1978 for Jones' visit to the unearthed remains of Great Temple, firmly setting the trip after the events in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 1957.
