Omar was a friend of Sallah's who worked as a digger. He also owned a garage in Cairo. His digging team assisted Sallah and Indiana Jones in unearthing the Well of the Souls in 1936. After Jones stole the Ark from the cargo truck carrying it to Cairo, he hid it in Omar's garage there.
