Orel (or Oryol) is a city in Russia, (modern day Russian Federation), located more than 200 miles south-southwest of Moscow. The city dates back to a twelth century fortress, but by the early twentieth century it was a hub for grain production. It was on the rail line between Moscow and Odessa.
In 1910, young Indiana Jones, his parents Henry and Anna, and his tutor Helen Seymour passed through Orel on the rail line, after passing through Tula on their way from Kuntsevo to Greece.
