After Indiana Jones stole the Cross, Rough Rider chased Indy and fought him on the circus train. During the fight, Rough Rider and Half Breed followed Indy into the reptile car and got momentarily trapped. Rough Rider used his pistol to unlock the train car door, and later drew his pistol on Indy after helping to hoist Indy out of the lion car.
Rough Rider later appeared at the Joneses household when Garth reclaimed the Cross with police assistance.
Behind the scenesEdit
Rough Rider was portrayed by Vince Deadrick Sr. in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The script and movie credits refer to the character as Rough Rider, though the character's actual name is not revealed. In Ryder Windham's junior novelization of the film, Fedora refers to one of his men as Alfred, though it's unclear whether he is talking to Rough Rider or Half Breed.
During the development of the film's original script, written by Jeffrey Boam, during the prologue sequence, Rough Rider was originally going to be attacked by a Bengal tiger who was giving him a blow in the back, ripping his jacket and making him fall from the circus train. His fate after this isn't mentioned.
When young Indy was pulled out of the lion car, Rough Rider has a gun pointed at him. The next scene quickly shifts and his gun is down, with Garth's hand on it. There may have been a small scene in between that Garth had Rough Rider lower the gun that was cut.
In LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, apart of Fedora, Rough Rider and Half Breed are the only members of Fedora's Gang to appear in the Young Indy sequence. As an interest fact, Rough Rider takes the place of Fedora's Truck Driver (who is absent from the game) as the gang's truck driver. During the level, both Rough Rider and Half Breed aboard the circus train, but they were defeated (and possibly killed if they fall from the circus train) by Indy and Herman Mueller. In the sequel, however, Rough Rider is absent, because the whole Young Indy sequence is omitted.
