Rough Rider was a member of the grave robbing gang led by Garth, which recovered the Cross of Coronado from a Utah canyon in 1912. After Indiana Jones stole the Cross, Rough Rider chased Indy and fought him on the circus train. During the fight, Rough Rider and Half Breed followed Indy into the reptile car and got momentarily trapped. Rough Rider used his pistol to unlock the train car door, and later drew his pistol on Indy after helping to hoist Indy out of the lion car.
Rough Rider later appeared at the Jones household when Garth reclaimed the Cross with police assistance.
Behind the scenesEdit
The script and movie credits refer to the character as Rough Rider, though the character's actual name is not revealed. In Ryder Windham's junior novelization of the film, Fedora refers to one of his men as Alfred, though it is unclear whether he is talking to Rough Rider, or Half Breed.
When young Indy was pulled out of the lion car, Rough Rider has a gun pointed at him. The next scene quickly shifts and his gun is down, with Garth's hand on it. There may have been a small scene in between that Garth had Rough Rider lower the gun that was cut.
