Captain Smith was the commanding officer of the Titanic in 1912. After the ship struck an iceberg, Indiana Jones went looking for Thomas Andrews and found him speaking with Smith and Bruce Ismay. When Jones told them what had happened to the ship, the men only nodded and Andrews encouraged young Indiana to go get a life vest.

Although Jones survived the disaster, Smith was among over fifteen hundred passengers and crew who were killed when the ship sank.

Behind the scenesEdit

Edward James Smith was a real man who died with the sinking of the Titanic (although there are conflicting accounts as to whether or not he truly went down with the ship). Young Indiana Jones and the Titanic Adventure only refers to Smith by his surname.
