Socrates was an ancient Greek and one of the most important figures in Western philosophy. Plato was one of his students, who recorded some of his philosophical discussions in the Dialogues. In the dialogue titled Hermocrates, Socrates is presented not to believe the legend of Atlantis.

In 1938, there was a plaque in the Biblioteca di San Barnaba quoting him for having said "Books like these are my cup of... tea".

Behind the scenesEdit

The library plaque is a humorous reference to the death of Socrates, who was executed by drinking a cup of poisonous hemlock.
