Sophie von Hohenberg was the daughter of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and Indiana Jones's first love interest. He met her in 1908, but was forced to depart due to his father's lecture tour. Before he left, the two exchanged gifts. Jones gave her a snow globe, and she gave him a locket with her picture inside. He wore the locket everywhere he went until at least 1920.
Later in life, in a conversation with the psychiatrist Carol Schultz, Jones discussed his relationship with Sophie. He explained that, after his encounter with Sophie in 1908, he continued to send her letters, though he didn't know if she ever received any of them. And although he never received any from her either, he did encounter her again at one point.
