The Temple of Doom was a place of worship to the goddess Kali. Used by the Thuggee cult, the temple was built deep underground beneath Pankot Palace in India. The temple included a sanctuary, where the Thuggee worshipped the goddess Kali with human sacrifices, as well as a mine, where slave children were put to work to find the last few Sankara Stones.
The final fate of the temple is left unknown but it's presumed that the British Army sealed it off following the Thuggee cult's defeat.
