The Perils of Pauline was a series of film serials featuring the titular Pauline.
In 1922, while living in Paris, Indiana Jones once passed a theater showcasing The Perils of Pauline and stopped to look at a poster of the protagonist in a literal cliffhanger that reminded Jones of how he'd grown up on the serials.
