Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is a common English nursery rhyme and song. The rhyme was based on an early nineteenth English poem called "The Star", and the rhyme was often sung to an old French melody. Mozart composed several variations of the melody.
In April 1920, after listening to Indiana Jones try to play jazz on the soprano saxophone and fail, Sidney Bechet took Jones aside and shared some of the secrets of jazz and had Jones practice the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" over and over again, until he knew it inside and out, and then could improvise on it. Jones practiced the melody over and over again, and eventually understood jazz. One night at the Royal Garden Club, Bechet called up his friend and invited him to play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" with the whole band backing him up.
