Yen Fu was considered to be greatest translator of Western literature in Peking, China.

Henry Jones went to visit Yen Fu in 1910 as part of his world lecture tour as he had particular interest in reading the scholar's translation of the Arthurian legends.

Behind the scenesEdit

When the "Peking, March 1910" episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles was edited into The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones feature Journey of Radiance, the historical Yen (Yan) Fu's name was changed and several instances of "Fen Yu" were used instead.

In the Choose Your Own Adventure adaptation Behind the Great Wall, readers can choose to have Indiana Jones travel with Yen Fu to the Forbidden City and meet the child emperor P'u-i instead of journeying with his mother and Miss Seymour to the Great Wall of China.
